A CWIF Board Election and a Special Executive Committee election were held during the spring 2022 JPIA Board of Directors' meeting. The Association of Califonia Water Agencies Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA JPIA) is dedicated to providing peace of mind and a safer work environment for water agencies across California.Providing a risk-sharing pool, local agencies save their customers money by avoiding the high costs of commercial insurance. ACWA JPIA also offers training, resource sharing and other valuable services to its member agencies.

The Association of California Water Agencies Joint Powers Insurance Authority - ACWA JPIA for short - is a partnership of water agencies dedicated to avoiding the high cost of commercial insurance. Formed in 1979, JPIA is not an insurance agency or carrier. It is a risk-sharing pool for property, liability, workers' compensation and employee benefits, which allows for more rate stability, broader coverage and expanded benefits and services than private insurance.Our offerings are unique to the water industry; member agencies themselves - their directors and managers - have selected and refined the various programs.
JPIA provides much more than just peace of mind. In addition to insurance services, you can turn to us for a wealth of information designed to provide your agency with helpful resources designed to keep your employees safe and your agency compliant with constantly changing human resource regulations.
The organization is governed by the Board of Directors, which is composed of one representative from each member agency. The representative director must be a member of his/her governing board and be selected by that board for the JPIA Board. Water agency directors and managers served by JPIA manage the program.
