More than 100 years ago, Alonzo Franklin Herndon, a former slave, founded what would become the Atlanta Life Insurance Company. A sharecropper from Social Circle, Georgia, Herndon parlayed his haircutting skills into the finest men's barbershop in Atlanta, catering to the white businessmen who populated Peachtree Street until his shop was damaged during the 1905 Atlanta race riots.

This company will not call you back and they will sell your policy to other companies. It is a black owned company and it is ripping older people off. I cannot find my mother policy she paid for anywhere. Do not use them and good luck if your family has a policy with them. I will be contacting the BBB also. They get no stars, they suck!

We have been trying to work on mother in laws life policy for 3 months now. They send correspondences to her address VS ours even though we've provided our address. They keep crossing policy information with another family member or when we try and explain that to them on another call they state that they don't see another policy. Just got a rejection letter sent to wrong address of course advising us the policy isn't my mother in laws. It's crazy and frustrating. It's hard enough given the situation and their lack of professionalism makes it worse

This is the worst black owned insurance company. The customer service is horrible. My dad who has passed away opened a policy with Atlanta Life Insurance Company. I tried following up on his policy but got no phone call back. I sent an email with copies of the policy and still no response. Black owned businesses want your support but if this is what I can expect from them no thank you.

I finally touched the right button to talk to someone but wasn't any help. I asked to speak to someone in management. I spoke with Marchell not sure if I'm spelling her name correctly but she said that she would call me back tomorrow. I hope she does because I've been dealing with this since October 1st.

Customer service is horrible. You cannot and will not get in touch with anyone here. I've had to pay thousands of dollars in deposits because no one could get in touch with anyone at Atlanta Life to verify our policy. Quite a shame. Alonzo Herndon is probably rolling in his grave right now! They are disgracing his legacy.

I've call back in Aug and still haven't talk to anybody about cashing out my account. Called kelly (the rep) still no call back she call me one time I missed her call and been missing since this is a very bad look on the company I will never get insurance from this company again and will let everyone I know and beyond to stay away from this company

I originally worked with Brianna to get my Hartford policy. When my business grew and tried adding several fleet vehicles it was hard to even reach someone. This is where all my troubles start. I needed a quote for 4 vehicles. Took days to even get in touch with someone. Howard gave me a quote for $14000 saying thats the best he could do. I found another company on my own and got all 4 vehicles covered for $7500. Again, just to get in touch with someone and get a quote took 2 weeks. Now, I needed to get an updated Certificate Of Insurance.

Several phone calls and emails directly to Howard and I STILL dont have my COI. It has been 2 months now. Atlanta Life has set my company back, missed deadlines, and lost revenue. At this point I want absolutely NOTHING to do with this company and got a whole new policy rewritten by a different broker. My new broker went through my Hartford policy and told me Atlanta Life put my company at risk. Howard is apparently the VP of this company. Dont expect any support after they make their money off of you. Stay away

I would not recommend this company to anyone. You can never get through to a representative on the phone. There's extremely long hold times like 1-3 hours. Really at 9am you have a 3 hour hold time. And they never return your phone calls. I gave one star because you have to give something to post a comment.

I believe this company is defrauding customers. Filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and rhe National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Anyone else being defrauded? I intend to file a lawsuit on behalf of my 85 year old mother who's been paying on a policy for 30 years.

Terrible phone service. Yesterday I called and they had a 3 hour hold time. Called back today. Still on hold. Yes this is what exactly people want to do when dealing with deceased loved ones affairs. Typical evil insurance company. I would never recommend them.
