After having insurance with them for probably 15+years, I found out they have not been shopping my policy to check for rates. As an insurance broker, they should have been looking out for my best interest as they advertise, BUT THEY WERE NOT!When I finally did check around for rates myself I saved almost $4000 a year on my auto policies by going with State Farm. DO NOT RECOMMEND.!

Their agent/Vice President David failed to do the job on numerous occasions even after repeated follow ups which resulted in 40% premium upcharge and later a collection letter! I took an insurance policy from David and paid for the agreed amount for the whole year in advance. Next year almost 4 months after the end of the insurance I received a $187 premium bill.

I contacted David to understand what was going on. First of all it took me weeks to get to David and then when I could reach him, he told me that it was my fault for thinking that insurance company will not auto renew! I asked him about any reminders he sent me and he said they don't send any reminders for policy renewals! The insurance company supposedly sent a reminder which I never received.

I told him that even if I accept this policy the insurance company is charging me almost 2 times the insurance. He asked me to talk to insurance company and have it resolved at my end. I tried but the insurance company kept asking me technical questions that I didn't understand and so I requested David to help. David took couple of days, repeated phone calls and reminders before he finally said that the matter is resolved and I just need to pay $90 and complete some audit.

He said that the insurance company will directly send me paperwork for the balance payment. All this while I kept asking him that since the matter is delayed so much the insurance company is sending me repeated letters and is threatening to send my case to collections. I told him that this is the last thing I want but he said just wait for the final bill and just pay that and that the case will not go to collections.

After a few days when I didn't receive any letter from the insurance company I emailed David about this as a concern. He never replied to my email and today I received a COLLECTION Letter from the insurance company of the same original amount! I put in so much effort, relied on Meyers Insurance and took so much stress in the end to have the matter even worse.

I am not sure if your insurance agent can't help you with simple payment/renewal reminders or to have a billing issue resolved then what will the agent do if there's an actual claim! I have received proper reminders (mails and phone calls) from my other insurance agents and they are mostly very good at responding to calls etc. Anyways, I have learnt my lesson here. Please take your business to a reputable firm. If someone wants, I can show them proof of whatever I have said above.
