Each month I paid $149 for my policy. I had to call 4 times before a card was mailed to me. The first and only time I used the insurance, , the doctors office had never heard of it and the pharmacy could not find it on their system. I was charged for the full cost of the visit and the medication. I cancelled the policy on that day and still did not recv my refund. UNIFIED LIFE is a fraudulent company scamming people out of their money

In 2021 my spouse and I decided to investigate retiring at the end of the year. I checked the Affordable Care Act website and found health insurance quotes for both of us that we could afford. In early November of 2021 I thought I was ordering health insurance through the ACA that had similar premiums and coverage to what I had investigated earlier.

I was told by the sales person that my premium would be approximately $400 per month per our new income, and that it would cost $150 per month each for my husband's 3 expensive diabetes drugs. I was also told doctor visits, tests, hospitalization, etc would be at an acceptable cost level. We both retired on 12/31/21 based on this quote. Then the nightmare started. Unified Life Insurance Company in Oakland Park, KS is the insurance company we ended up with.

Nothing I was told on the phone (many phone calls) turned out to be true. Drugs were not discounted at all and no medical procedures were covered (only small discounts that all insurance companies seem to force upon the medical providers). After 3 months of stress and super high medical expenses I called the ACA phone number to report this company and try to have them removed from the program so nobody else ended up with the same problems we had.

That's when it all became clear. It seems I hadn't signed up with the ACA at all. Unified Life is a scam company who preyed on me by posing as part of the ACA and lying about everything. I reported them to the BBB and found MANY other people had the same experience. I am now with Anthem BC/BS through the ACA at an even lower monthly premium and with the coverage we were expecting (even better coverage than we were told to expect from Unified Life).

But in those first 3 months of 2022 we now have $7000 of medical debt that was not covered but should have been. Luckily we have the means to afford to make payments on that debt and eventually get it paid off. But many seniors are not that lucky. Unified Life should be forced out of business. This is a scam company that should not be allowed to take advantage of senior citizens.

I was told I'd have a complete 70/30 coverage and just received a $5000 dollar bill that they only took $50 off of. I'm considering legal action if I'm not refunded all $700+ of payments I've made to them as it would do more to cover my medical bills than they did. Do not use this company it is a complete scam.

This company is a complete joke. Find another company that is competent these people certainly are not. They cover nothing and do not say anything bout networks. They should not be allowed to be in business

Unified provides a list of providers in network then tell you every physician and facillity is out of network. I am stuck with over 3 grand of bills and all they have paid is 2 payments of 50.00, which is confusing since they are out of network? Is a big scam

I work in healthcare and was looking into a patient's coverage who presented with Unified Life and was horrified to see what they cover which is essentially nothing. $250 a year they will pay total, $50 dollars towards 5 different visits, when people are paying in thousands per year for these so called "discounted rates." My patient would have gotten better discount paying self-pay upfront we give 30% off what we would bill an insurance. How sad is that? DO NOT get this plan. Will only be throwing money away. Total scam.

Can't give a negative 0. Paid every month for personal insurance. When the time came and I had to use it, they covered absolutely nothing leaving me with about $60.000 in hospital and doctors bills.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! SCAM OPERATION! They lied to me about Kaiser Hospital, saying that I can still use Kaiser with their insurance. I paid $88.93 for Essential Health Care and $287.03 Mid June just to sign up! Then they said insurance kicks in on July 1st. I made payments on the first of every month, starting in July. I signed up for limited insurance, so they were supposed to pay a co pay for my first doctor visit to transfer records and meet with my new doctor who takes this insurance company.

The doctor's office submitted my claim form, and this insurance company paid out nothing! For a simple doctor's visit, NOTHING ON THEIR END! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM! HOW CAN WE DO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT? I'M IN!

Please never do business with this company. I filed a complaint about how bad the insurance was. I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they contacted Unified and Unified ask me for additional information and then radio silence. I ended up with so much medical debt for a week in the hospital for emergency surgery that I paid Unified $500.00 a month for. Bad business. Bad business.

If I could give 0 I would! Place is a scam. Once I seen these reviews I called my bank and stopped payment. I then called company back to cancel. They transferred me to 3 people total. Second and third both argued with me which was also proof they are a scam. What customer service rep argues and dismisses what you say. Second one said do I quit going to my favorite restaurant bc they have bad reviews.

Mind you that's after she laughed when I said they a scam. Third person just argued(yelling over me) I finally just said cancel me and I hung up. I cancelled my debit card they aren't getting any money anyway.

I wouldn't even give them one star if that were possible. This company (if that's what you call them) is a scam if I've ever seen one. They tell you all this great stuff that will be covered but, in all reality, you will only be able to get about $50 off on a medical bill, and that's if your doctor even accepts them (most do not). PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM! IM BEGGING YOU!

They attempted to con my grandmother out of paying over $200 per month for NOTHING! So, not only are they scamming ppl but, they are also taking advantage of the elderly. Falls under the same category as those social security scams. Just useless! Garbage!
