Oregon Mutual basically has zero online functionality. My agent talked me into switching because their policy offers higher coverages for the %. I could never have imagined a modern company of this size and the nature of their service would have close to zero things that can be done online. I would have never had switched all my coverages to Oregon (car, home, personal property) had I known. Setup autopay?

Call them. Need full policy printouts? Call them. Want to choose new policy options? Call them. File a claim? Call them. 1965 has come and gone! I should be able to do any of these things 24/7. I'm deathly afraid of having to file a claim, because if I do, it's going to be phone calling from beginning to end of the process, maybe a few emails if I'm lucky.

I emailed them "Is it in future plans to add more functionality to your website? I need full policy printouts and don't want to call." They ignored the question, attached the policies (a day or two later) and said I could always call to get my policies. When I get more time I'm likely going to switch back to someone else.

I just switched to another insurance company. I'll be saving $800.00 a year. I've been their customer for years. I have excellent credit, no accidents or moving violations. What gives?

Well I decided to update my review so people know that they do not have to let this company take advantage of you, which is what they tried to do to me. My loss occurred last year on August 27, 2019. Their insured owns a car wash business and their diseased Bradford pear tree fell into our yard and did almost $10,000 of damage, including over $5000 to one of our customer's cars.

This insurance company fought me EVERY step of the way. They would tell me they needed something and I would supply it (I even paid an Arborist $300 for a report), and they would tell me it did not work. They never showed any proof that their insured did their minimum duty of car in regards to the tree. I asked the VP of claims (he wanted to talk to me after my previous review after months of being ignored even by the adjuster!) if I took his client to small claims court would they pay then?

He said yes. So guess what I had to do to make this awful company do the right thing. I had to take his insured to small claims court! In the judgement, the judge said "It is also significant that the defendant is a commercial business, its representative even testifying that the tree provided shade to employees who gathered under it. The defendant was thus not only under the duty of a reasonable occupant of land but also under a duty to inspect potential workplace dangers affecting its employees." So we won and have received checks for what the judge ordered.

We still lost on time and money though. Estimates to fix vehicles are never accurate, and always more once they tear it apart. We only got paid for the estimate and there were a few other things that we did not get paid for, like the Arborist report that Chris Strain wanted me to get and then said his insured could not be held to the same standard as an arborist.

I hope their insured finds a new insurance company that does the right thing for them in the future. That's why businesses pay insurance companies. Oregon Mutual must have missed that memo though because a year after the incident, their insured had to go to court to deal with something that should have already been handled. Save yourself a headache and run away before you've paid them a buttload of money and when an accident happens, they don't pay.

I think so far they are great. I can always get someone on the phone without going through 8 phone menu selections, and get help with questions right away. Their rates are also amazing - we saved a ton going through them. I'll update if I ever have a claim with them.

I have had a terrible experience with Oregon Mutual. Marcus is a poor communicator. I can never reach him, and when I do he makes up excuses about having too many voicemails, or not knowing what the policy covers. He never can find answers, and I have been facilitating all contact. His supervisor, Marc, is rude and condescending. I will be switching my insurance coverage as soon as possible. Stay away from these people who have no idea what they are doing!

I do NOT recommend Oregon Mutual. I had a homeowner's policy with Oregon Mutual for 9+ years, and never had a claim of any kind. None. After getting a quote from a different company, which would save me $110/year, I decided to change companies. So, I notified Oregon Mutual in writing that I wanted to cancel my policy on the effective date of the new policy. Well, an e-mail from the new company reaffirming my purchase of the new policy went astray - so I asked my agent to arrange for the old policy with Oregon Mutual to be reinstated, to prevent me from possibly having a brief lapse in coverage.

My agent and I were both astonished, and a little angry, that the underwriter at Oregon Mutual vindictively refused to reinstate a policy which still had 3 months of coverage remaining, because they knew I was leaving Oregon Mutual. DO NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM THIS PETTY COMPANY.

I've been with them for 15 plus years. I've had 2 claims. My rv about 8 years ago. It was around $3000. Absolutely no problem. The other was recently. Not there responsibility but they helped me work with Allstate.

If I could give a zero star I would. Do not do business with these people. They are neither professional nor competent. They do not treat their customers like they care and give poor service. They also just tried to do something illegal with my policy and I had to file a complaint with the state Insurance Commissioner. About the only thing they're good at is pulling the premium money out of your checking account. Do yourself and your agent a favor and stay away!

If you are looking for the worst insurance in the world you have found it here in oregon mutual! my 97 year old mother has been insured with this company for over 30 years, she has had 2 tiny claims. but when she had a fair good sized claim they denied it! not only did they deny it but the old lady (BARB COHAN) they sent out to assess the problem didn't have a clue as to what she was talking about and she lied like none other right to our faces. she was a very unprofessional, disgusting looking (dirty) in my opinion and acted just as unprofessional. she took pictures of places where the problem wasn't i assume so she could use that as the cause. i guess that's what we get going thru a small company, so much for support your local businesses! this one it the ulimate rip off.

I am not a customer of Oregon Mutual Insurance, I am the "other party" whom was a victim of a parking lot fender bender. Took way too long to investigate and resolve a simple fender bender. My insurance company investigated based on facts from both parties and made a conclusion in less than a week. These people? it took a month. After repeated requests for an update, we eventually were required to make a final statement to their claim adjuster. which we tried to do immediately.

That person we found out after initial contact was out of office. but did not inform us who would cover while they were out. So even though they REQUIRED us to contact THEM for a statement, they didn't provide us appropriate contact or coverage while a person was out. THAT person? She blew us off after initial contact and we found out through a different person she was getting married.

Well congrats on that, but transfer a active case before you go? Very unprofessional. We had to call into their main line and explain our situation and only then they assigned us to a backup individual who was willing to cover. Every situation is different, but customer orientation and attention to detail in my example clearly not a strength here. You've been warned.

After 30 years of continuous coverage of my mom's home and no claims, Oregon Mutual would not renew me as the successor owner of the home.

Update: 5/18/15. I am happy to report, I heard back from my adjuster, she was out ill for a few weeks so she missed all the attempted communications. We worked out the details and they sent me a check for the amount minus the depreciation pending completion, and then fully reimburse! All is good.
