D. B. "Ben" Meadows left the Air Force, as a Major, in 1946 and moved to New York City to sell oil field equipment to major oil companies. In July of 1949 he moved to Harlingen, Texas where he joined his father working for Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company. In 1950 Jefferson-Pilot transferred Ben to Corpus Christi as a District Manager, where he was later appointed Branch Manager.
