Right from our very beginning, Badger Mutual Insurance Company realized that insurance is more than just a policy and that our customers are more than just numbers. Our mission was and continues to be helping people in times of need-when heart and compassion truly matter. Our company was founded in 1887, six years after the great Chicago Fire, to help churches protect their property.

After the ravages of the fire, many insurance companies refused to insure churches with large steeples or charged the owners unbelievably high rates, as large steeples attracted lightning.
