Chautauqua Patrons Insurance Company traces its roots to 1877. At that time, the company was known as the "Patrons Fire Relief Association". It was formed when farm families, belonging to the fraternal organization called "The Order of Patrons Husbandry", banded together for the purpose of providing insurance against loss by fire of farm related property.
