Founded in January 1849, our company began as a cooperative effort among thirteen immigrant farmers in Scott County who sought to protect each other from financial losses. Originally named Deutsche Brund Gilde, we transitioned to our current identity as American Mutual Insurance Association in 1946. As the oldest mutual insurance provider in Iowa, we have maintained a steadfast commitment to the agricultural community for over 175 years. In 1994, we expanded our operations statewide while preserving our neighbor-helping-neighbor philosophy.Our expertise in agricultural risks is informed by generations of hands-on experience protecting farms of all sizes. We combine this deep industry knowledge with conservative underwriting practices to deliver affordable, reliable coverage across 28 Iowa counties.
