I was a plaintiff in a bad faith disability case. Attorney got me to settle by lying to me about punitive damages. At the legal malpractice of that action my attorney did not ask for $2.5 million in punitive damages testified to by expert. My attorney denied it, 1-1/2 years later got trial transcript. I was right but outside SOl. Consulted attorney (who had been on Board of Director's of Lawyers Mutual) who told me my attorney had not asked for the punitive damages portion of case ($2.5 million) to get more work as defense counsel for Lawyers Mutual.
Jury returned verdict for what my attorney asked for. I did not know you could sue for civil collusion. Attorneys would not help me, ever. I think this is probably happening frequently but no attorney will talk. Only investigations by a government insurance commissioner can help but victims are in the dark even as to any cause of action. If you can help, please report.
