Times were tough during the Great Depression. A Burlington banker wanted to make it a little easier for his neighbors by providing quality insurance protection when it was hard to get. So in 1933, James Mangold, Sr. started a small agency. His son, James Mangold, Jr., took over the business in 1959 and the third-generation namesake, James Mangold III, was named president in 1998.
